Year 2, 2005
The trip started off with a glitch. My Daughter Vanessa in Kennewick, Washington was going into labor too early with my second Grandchild. I had not planned to go yet, and stopping to see the baby on the way was part of the plan. This put an instant rush on my presence there as Micah, just 2 & 1/2 was a handfull and Vanessa needed total bed rest. Micah & I kept busy while trying to keep Mommy down. Isaiah's Parents (Ma & Pa) helped tremendously and are always a huge support. They are family to me.
It was cherry season, so Micah & I picked and made pie! |
We played trains and pretended Grandma Neen was coming (that's how I arrived) |
Mommy time was necessary, so Nessa worked it out. It was hard for her to stay down as she is an active busy person. |
I turned 44 while there, so Micah helped me blow. the candles on my earthquake cake! |
Isaiah, Vanessa & Micah with Baby Lily still hiding. | After the coast was clear, Vanessa could start moving around again, Vanessa started feeling and looking better and then the baby wouldn't come! |
Finally with Baby Lily staying put through all Vanessa's efforts to get labor started, I headed North to Tahsis knowing I wouldn't see baby Lily until the return trip which wound up being way too long. Lily arrived about two weeks after I left on June 27th, 2005.
The trip North was pretty crazy. I wound up on trains and buses, then finally car. There was a burning Greyhound heading past Roslyn where the show Northern Exposures was filmed. We had to stop and give the passengers a ride to wherever they needed to go. Every where I went there was something keeping the trains & busses from getting to the connection on time. There was even a bomb threat in Seatle just as we heading around the corner with moments to spare! The bus didn't make it. I finally got to Nanaimo on the last Ferry that night. It was all car camping from there and stocking up on groceries on the way. The trips up were always full of adventure, but I've misplaced my journal, so can't remember one years trip adventures from the next!
